PEOPLE POWER PASSION
People Power Passion delivered cultural events to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Luton Peace Day riots. The project consisted of five events spanning across five months. Theatre, spoken word, dance, children’s activities and virtual reality all featured as part of the programme, produced and performed by the local community.
Each event required a unique approach to filming and post-production. It was a pleasure working with such a talented team and creating pieces that show the true creative flair of local artists.

Overall Film
During the project, I created more than ten films including main event films, rehearsal films and additional promotional material. The film below was the last one to come out - it is an overview of the entire programme that showcases each event.
First Promotional Film
The idea for this piece came from the artists who attended the initial meeting. They all wrote extremely impactful pieces about Luton. My client suggested that it would be great if the first film to represent People Power Passion should reflect this work. The piece replicates the experience that artists had and showcases genuine thoughts about Luton.
The People’s Launch
The following film showcases the highlights of the People’s Launch event that took place outside the Luton Town Hall. The participants disrupted the councillor’s speeches and spoke about their rights and justice.
Additionally, I filmed a few short films that were used for promotional purposes on social media.
Outdoor Spectacular
The Outdoor Spectacular show was much bigger in terms of the setup - it had a massive stage, professional lighting, fire and live music. It proved to be a challenge to capture due to rain, but with a team of videographers and a dynamic edit, the film recreates the atmosphere of the event.
The following films were captured during the rehearsals for the show.
In order to promote the event, I was tasked with creating a film that gives some clues to what the main event will look like. It was extremely fun to film as the performers were very keen to try out new things and experiment. A combination of original and stock footage was used to deliver the wanted message.
Riot Act
This was a theatre and spoken word piece performed at the Council chambers.
Children’s Peace Party
Children’s Peace Party took place in Wardown Park on a lovely summer’s day. It was great to see hundreds of children playing together, enjoying arts and creating art. The event was attended by hundreds of children and it was amazing to capture the joyful atmosphere.
Lutopia
The programme was concluded in Lutopia event held outside the Town Hall. I captured people playing a VR game, enjoying the exhibitions, a live round table discussion and other aspects of the event.
